the eternal embrace...

in feb 2007, archaeologists unearthed two 5000-year-old skeletons from the neolithic period locked in an eternal embrace.

the skeletons were found buried outside mantua, which is 25 miles south of verona, the city where shakespeare set the tale of romeo and juliet.

imagine that, a love that transcended 5000 years….

this makes me think of another awfully romantic piece of history. that is, the abdication of king edward viii in 1936 - who gave up one of the oldest and most powerful kingdoms in the world to marry wallis simpson.…and remained married to her until his death 35 years later.
